About Straatman
Straatman brings together Dutch maritime companies, globally known for high-quality equipment, craftsmanship and innovation. In our own workshops we can handle every step ourselves, from design and engineering to production. This keeps the process in our hands and ensures consistent quality and reliable service. The Netherlands has a long tradition of building smart and solid solutions for the maritime industry. We are proud to continue that tradition. All companies within the Straatman Group share the same values: reliability, expertise, high quality and a drive to keep improving. Together we create smart maritime solutions, ranging from mooring systems to specialized dredging couplings and premium winches. All designed and made in the Netherlands.

Machinefabriek L. Straatman
Founded in 1902 by Mr. L. Straatman, Machinefabriek L. Straatman began its journey in Dordrecht, specializing in boiler construction and ship repairs. Over the years, we expanded our expertise to include the fabrication of hydraulic presses, heavy winches, and custom-built projects, and we joined forces with “Van de Graaf’s Werktuig- en Constructiebouw BV”.
In 1965, we entered into the dredging market, developing a steel plateball joint for floating pipelines in collaboration with Boskalis. This marked the beginning of our journey in delivering dredging components worldwide. One of our flagship products is the bow coupling installation for hopper dredgers, enabling a swift connection between the ship and the floating pipeline.
In 1974, we initiated the production of container handling frames, also known as spreaders, with the guidance of ECT.
To broaden our product range, we introduced a complete range of quick release towing hooks and quick release mooring hooks, which have become well-known products of ours around the globe.
Straatman today
In 2007, Gertjan Strietman took over Machinefabriek L. Straatman, marking a new era for the company. We have since then extended the product portfolio to include Berthing Aid Systems, a sophisticated solar system for the maritime market, and the patented Smart Bollard. We deliver our products globally to end-users and contractors in the maritime sector, shipyards, and oil and gas terminals. All our products are designed specifically for each project.
In 2024, we branched out into two companies: Straatman Mooring Systems, focusing on all mooring equipment and technologies, and Straatman Dredging & Construction, specializing in dredging equipment and construction and coating activities from our former sister company MFS Constructie. In 2025, we took over Kraaijeveld Winches, and in 2026, Straatman SafeCom was added to the group.
Today, Straatman is a team of 110 dedicated professionals in the Netherlands. Furthermore, we have a support office in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and local agents worldwide who serve as local points of contact for sales, service and support.

Continuous Innovation
At Straatman, we never stand still. Improving our products and creating smarter solutions has always been part of who we are. Over the years, we developed systems that pushed the maritime world forward. From our autonomous Solar Power System for reliable green energy in remote or offshore areas, to our Smart Bollard that provides ports with real-time insight into mooring forces.
We also invented the Bow Discharge Installation, now the global standard in dredging and used by leading dredging companies worldwide. With SafeWinch, we offer a modern, safe, and user-friendly way to handle winch operations.
