Mooring system for LNG terminal Paldiski, Estonia
2 December 2025
The complete mooring system for the LNG terminal Paldiski in Estonia was commissioned last week and is now fully operational.
This LNG project had a very challenging timeline, as the terminal needed to be operational within six months. Thanks to strong teamwork and close cooperation within the Straatman team, the complete mooring system for the LNG terminal in Lahepere Bay was delivered and commissioned earlier than scheduled.
For the safe and efficient mooring of the FSRU to the terminal, Straatman manufactured, delivered and commissioned 150T triple quick release mooring hooks. Each hook is equipped with a Mooring Load Monitoring System, providing real-time insight into mooring loads.
All quick release mooring hooks are connected to a central Control and Monitoring System with an integrated PC running Straatman’s MoorControl software. This allows operators at the LNG terminal to monitor mooring forces and system status at all times, supporting safe and efficient LNG operations.
